Bespoke Jewellery

I’d like to create something bespoke - how does the process work?

At Eartha & Wolf, creating bespoke jewellery is a personal and collaborative experience. Whether you're designing an engagement ring, reimagining a beloved heirloom, or crafting a unique piece from scratch, we guide you through every step. Learn more about our bespoke jewellery process here.

Can I use my existing stones or jewellery in a bespoke piece?

Absolutely! We specialise in giving new life to antique or vintage stones and heirloom pieces. Incorporating existing materials or reworking your jewellery is something we love to do. Discover more about how we can help you create something truly unique on our Bespoke page.

How long does it take to create a bespoke piece of jewellery?

The timeframe can vary depending on the complexity of the design, but it generally takes between 4-8 weeks. We’ll give you a clear estimate during your consultation and keep you informed throughout the process. For more details, visit our bespoke page.

What is the difference between bespoke and custom jewellery?

While both bespoke and custom jewellery are made to order, bespoke pieces are entirely unique, designed from scratch with your input. Whereas custom pieces are based on our existing designs and tweaked to your specifications - changing the diamond carat weight or finger size for instance. Personalised pieces are those which have had small personal additions made to them - for instance, an added stone inside the shank or an engraving.

I’d like to design a bespoke engagement ring or wedding band, can you help?

Creating bespoke engagement rings and wedding bands is something we love. As with all our bespoke work, whether you have a clear idea or need inspiration we’ll work closely with you to design a piece that perfectly captures your story.

From selecting the ideal gemstones to choosing the right metal and style, Pandora will guide you through the process, ensuring every detail is considered. We’ll help you craft a ring that feels deeply personal and is uniquely yours.

Care & Materials

How should I care for my fine jewellery?

With just a little careful attention, your fine jewellery will last a lifetime and beyond! The best and easiest way to clean most fine jewellery is with a soft toothbrush (a baby one is perfect) and a gentle solution of warm soapy water. Make sure you do this in a cup to avoid losing anything down the sink! Dry with a soft cloth, and store inside your Eartha & Wolf box it came in.

We don’t recommend the use of chemical cleaners, even those marketed for jewellery, or ultrasonic machines. It is possible to damage delicate jewellery, such as those containing emeralds or opals, and such extensive cleaning is rarely necessary. We deep clean and restore all our antique jewellery before offering it for sale.

Read more about caring for your jewellery in our Gemstones & Care Guide.

What types of gemstones do you use inyour fine jewellery?

We work with a wide variety of gemstones, including sapphires, rubies, emeralds, aquamarines and more. Each gemstone is ethically sourced, whether it is an antique stone or one sourced from our network of trusted suppliers. We take care to ensure all our stones meet high standards of quality and provenance.

Can I trust the quality of your vintage and antique jewellery?

Absolutely - antique jewellery is our speciality. Every piece of vintage and antique jewellery we sell has been carefully curated, restored and assessed by our expert team to ensure it meets our high standards of quality and craftsmanship.

If a piece can’t be rescued or we have had to replace main stones, we still want to give it a new life. In our Reimagined collection, antique pieces and materials are thoughtfully reworked into beautiful new designs that retain their historical charm.

Our Ethics

What makes Eartha & Wolf an ethical jewellery brand?

Our ethical promises are at the heart of everything we do. From responsibly sourced gemstones and conflict-free diamonds to our commitment to fair working conditions, we strive to create jewellery that is both beautiful and ethically made.

We are committed to working with suppliers who believe in fair practices, ensuring that everyone involved in the creation of our jewellery benefits from their work.

We like to think our ethical promises go beyond the basics, truly reflecting the values that matter most to us. Find out more on our Ethics page.

How do you ensure your jewellery is sustainably made?

Antique jewellery is intrinsically sustainable, and we love using existing pieces and materials wherever possible.

When we’re crafting new jewellery, sustainability shapes many of our sourcing and production choices. We use recycled and SMO (single mine origin) materials wherever possible and use local and UK based artisans for our production. Even our packaging is sustainable, right down to the bow!

Are your diamonds conflict-free?

Where we source new stones, we work with suppliers who share our values, ensuring that every stone is conflict-free. All our diamonds adhere to the Kimberley Process and we adhere to the World Diamond Council's System of Warranties which ensures the responsible sourcing of diamonds. Learn more on our Ethics page.

Antique diamonds by nature are sustainable as they are recycled, and we follow our guidelines on sourcing to make sure our antique stones come from conflict-free countries wherever possible. If there is a lack of provenance, we will only work with trusted suppliers to share our values.

What is the Kimberley Process?

The Kimberley Process is an international certification scheme established in 2003 to prevent the trade of conflict diamonds (also known as blood diamonds). Requiring participating countries to certify that their diamond exports are conflict-free, the Kimberley Process allows retailers and shoppers to know diamonds are sourced responsibly.

Any new diamond you buy from us is certified as conflict-free. For more information, you can visit the official Kimberley Process website here https://www.kimberleyprocess.com/en

Please note - no one can know the original provenance of antique diamonds, whether in an antique or reworked piece. However we can guarantee all jewellery has been thoughtfully sourced by us, and we believe that reusing these old and beautiful stones will always be the most sustainable and ethical option. If you have any questions about diamonds and gemstones, please reach out here - we’d love to chat over the options!

Are your gemstones ethically sourced?

Where we source new gemstones, we work with suppliers with a transaparent pipeline or mines with fair working conditions. Many of our gemstones are antique, which we’ll either use in all their original glory or (if necessary) recut and re-polish.

While we do our best to ensure all of our diamonds and gemstones are from conflict-free countries and are mined from a resonsible source, we cannot guarantee this with every antique or vintage piece due to provenance not always being present. We do, however, only source from responsible suppliers that share our values. Learn more on our Ethics page.

Is your gold sustainably sourced?

All Eartha & Wolf made pieces are crafted with recycled gold and platinum. We source our gold from trusted suppliers and use recycled and SMO (Single Mine Origin) wherever possible. Any pieces that are SMO will be clearly stated on the product page and hallmarked with the relevant mark.

Do you hallmark your pieces?

Yes, we do. All Eartha & Wolf collection or bespoke pieces will carry our authentic sponsor's mark and UK hallmark.

Hallmarking is a process that verifies the authenticity of precious metal items in the UK and is regulated by the Hallmarking Act of 1973. It is compulsory to include; the sponsor's mark, fineness mark and Assay office mark.

Our Antique jewellery may not carry a full hallmark or stamp. This can be due to the piece being made outside the UK (where there are different practices) or a partial mark due to age or wear of the piece. Rest assured our experts are well versed in recognising hallmarks, import marks and even important sponser's marks. These marks aid our specialists in determining the age and country of origin of the piece.

Are you a member of any trade organisations?

Yes, we are! We pride ourselves on working towards a responsible future with our suppliers and customers. We are always working tirelessly behind the scenes to invest in staff training and development, so we can offer you the best possible service and peace of mind.

We are a proud member of the NAJ (National Associaton of Jewellers) and are working with the RJC (Responsible Jewellery Council) towards our future membership.

We are also vetted by the WDC (World Diamond Council) in order to guarantee our diamonds are conflict-free.

We work with trusted Antique and Vintage jewellery suppliers who are accredited by LAPADA
